DU JCD Organises Prayer Session on Khaleda Zia’s Birth Anniversary

Bangla Press Desk:  The Dhaka University (DU) unit of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal organised a prayer and milad mahfil at the university on Saturday to commemorate the 81st birth anniversary of former prime minister and BNP chairperson Late Begum Khaleda Zia.

The student wing hosted the programme at the Dhaka University Central Jama Masjid following Zuhr prayers on 15 August.Attending leaders and activists commemorated Khaleda Zia's political journey, her long struggle, and her sacrifices for democracy, offering prayers for the forgiveness of her soul. Attendees also offered prayers for the soul of BNP founder and former president Ziaur Rahman, as well as for BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman and his family members.

Central General Secretary of Chhatra Dal Nasir Uddin Nasir, DU unit President Ganesh Chandra Roy Sahas, General Secretary Nahiduzzaman Shipon, and leaders from various levels of the organisation participated in the event.

Speaking at the gathering, Nasir Uddin Nasir highlighted Khaleda Zia's significant contributions to the nation. "Begum Khaleda Zia has contributed a lot to the country and its people. Chhatra Dal leaders and activists have grown up watching her for a long time. She loved Chhatra Dal leaders and activists like her own children and looked at their mistakes and shortcomings with a forgiving eye," he said.

He emphasised her steadfast political stance, stating, "For the country, for the soil of the country and for the democracy of Bangladesh, Begum Khaleda Zia has fought tirelessly. She has never compromised on the issue of Bangladeshi nationalism and democracy. She taught us to fight uncompromisingly against fascism that existed for 17 long years."

Nasir added that Chhatra Dal activists would absorb her lessons, remain dedicated to serving the public, and maintain a vigilant eye to safeguard democracy in Bangladesh.

"On this day, we remember our national leader Begum Khaleda Zia with deep respect. At the same time, we also remember the founder of our party, the great proclaimer of independence, martyr president Ziaur Rahman with deep respect," he said.

Outlining their countrywide activities, Nasir mentioned that various university, college, district, and city units are holding similar events to mark the occasion and uphold her political ideology.DU unit Chhatra Dal General Secretary Nahiduzzaman Shipon noted, "Former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia never compromised for the sake of the country and the nation. That is why she is known to the people as an uncompromising leader."

Shipon added, "Despite various forms of oppression and adversities by the Awami League government, she never left the country; rather, she stayed by the side of the people of the country, thinking about them. The nation will remember her political struggle and sacrifice for a long time."

The programme concluded with special prayers offered for the progress of the nation and the welfare of BNP leaders and activists. Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Prof ABM Obaidul Islam, Pro VC (Administration) Prof Almujaddedee Alfesanee, and Pro VC (Education) Prof Abdus Salam also attended the meeting.
