DU VC meets Jamaat ameer
Bangla Press Desk: Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmed Khan has met Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman as part of a series of exchanges with political leaders aimed at maintaining stability on the campus ahead of the 13th National Parliament elections.
The meeting was held on Tuesday evening (6 Jan).
Earlier, the vice-chancellor met BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman on Monday (5 Jan).
During the meeting, Niaz briefed the Jamaat ameer on the overall security and stability situation of the Dhaka University campus during the pre-election period.
He also discussed the progress of major development projects, the post-DUCSU election situation, ongoing education and research activities, initiatives to improve the university’s position in international rankings, and various recent steps taken for student welfare.
Emphasising the importance of campus stability ahead of the national election, the vice-chancellor sought the cooperation and constructive advice of Jamaat-e-Islami in maintaining a peaceful academic environment, strengthening education and research, and advancing infrastructural development at the university.
In response, Shafiqur assured all possible cooperation in these matters.
