DUJ to play more active role in protecting media freedom: Jamaat Ameer
Bangla Press Desk: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman has expressed hope that the newly elected committee of the Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) will work more actively to safeguard media freedom.
He conveyed these remarks yesterday while congratulating the newly elected DUJ President Md Shahidul Islam, General Secretary Khurshid Alam, and other members of the committee.
The Jamaat Ameer said that the members’ unanimous decision to re-elect the leadership is clear proof of the trust, reputation, and capable stewardship of the journalist community.
He believes this continuity will bring fresh momentum in addressing the professional challenges faced by the media.
In his statement, Rahman said that the media is one of the key pillars of any democratic society, and the role of journalists is essential in establishing truth, building a just society, and contributing to the nation’s overall progress.
In this context, he noted that the DUJ leadership carries a significant responsibility—not only to uphold professional interests but also to protect the freedom and dignity of journalism.
