EB administration to plant 10,000 trees

Bangla Press Desk:   As part of the BNP government's election promise of planting 250 million trees in five years, a month-long tree plantation and clean campus program has been inaugurated at the Islamic University (IB) as part of its 250 million tree plantation plan.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. AKM Matinur Rahman inaugurated the program on the premises of the university's administration building on Sunday (June 28).
During this time, fruit trees were distributed among the students of the Laboratory School and various departments of the university and a cleanliness program was conducted on the campus. Under this initiative, 10,000 trees will be planted across the campus throughout the month.
Present at the time were Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. M. Ayakub Ali, Treasurer Professor Dr. Jahangir Alam, Central Secretary General of Zia Parishad Professor Dr. Emtaz Hossain, General Secretary of EB Zia Parishad Professor Dr. Rafiqul Islam, Member Secretary of Kushtia District BNP Engineer Zakir Hossain Sarkar, President of the Officers' Association Abdul Moeed Babul, President of the Zia Parishad Officers' Unit Mohd. Alauddin and Nationalist Officers Forum President Khandaker Abdul Majid, along with teachers, students and officials of various departments.
Professor Dr. AKM Matinur Rahman said, 'This university belongs to all of us. We all have the responsibility to preserve its biodiversity, green environment and natural beauty. Islamic University has joined this initiative as part of the current government's nationwide tree plantation program. This is not a one-day program. Tree plantation activities will be conducted continuously across the campus for the next month. We want to build a green, clean and environment-friendly campus through the active participation of teachers, students and officials.' Source: jugantor
