Efforts underway to reopen two terminals at Riyadh airport despite threats of attack
Bangla Press Desk: Despite issuing security alerts in the face of threats from Houthi rebels in Yemen, Saudi authorities have announced the reopening of Terminals 1 and 2 at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.
According to ANI, starting Sunday (October 25), Terminal 1 will be designated for domestic flights, while Terminal 2 will handle international flights.
Given the current situation, authorities have advised all passengers to verify their flight bookings and updates with their respective airlines before arriving at the airport.
Previously, Yahya Saree, a military spokesperson for the Houthi rebels in Yemen, claimed that they had targeted several locations, including King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, Najran Airport, the Khamis Mushait airbase, and various Aramco oil refineries. Labeling King Khalid International Airport a "military target," the Houthis warned airlines and passengers against using the facility.
Meanwhile, due to the escalating security situation in the Middle East, Air India and Air India Express have announced the suspension of several flights bound for Saudi Arabia.
The airlines stated that flights to Riyadh and Dammam will remain suspended until November 7, while flights to Jeddah will be halted until October 31. Affected passengers have been offered the option to change their bookings or receive a full refund.
