Eid celebrated in 20 villages of Dinajpur today
Bangla Press Desk: The people of around 20 villages of Birampur upazila in Dinajpur observed Eid-ul-Fitr on Friday, aligning with Saudi Arabia.
The early Eid congregations were held in two unions—Jotbani and Binail—where both male and female worshippers participated. Two separate Eid prayers took place at 8:30 am—one at the yard of Mehedi Hasan Sumon in Khoyerbari-Mirzapur area under Jotbani Union, and another at the Aira Madrasa field under Binail Union.
Al-Amin led the prayers at the Aira Madrasa ground, while Md. Dolowar Hossain Kazi served as imam at the Khoyerbari congregation.
More than 200 male and female worshippers attended the two congregations.
Explaining the early observance, Imam Dolowar Hossain Kazi said the time difference between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia is only about three hours, which does not change the day, prompting them to follow Saudi Arabia in celebrating Eid.
He added that although there had been plans since 1997 to observe Eid this way, it has been practiced regularly since 2013.
Officer-in-Charge of Birampur Police Station, Saiful Islam Sarkar, said Eid congregations were held peacefully in Jotbani and Binail unions with adequate security measures in place.Source: daily Sun
