Eid-e-Miladunnabi Set for August 26

Bangla Press Desk:  The holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi, commemorating the birth and death anniversary of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), will be observed across the country on 26 August with due religious solemnity.

The decision came from a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee held on Thursday evening at the Islamic Foundation (IF) Conference Room in Baitul Mukarram National Mosque here, with Religious Affairs Secretary Munshi Alauddin Al Azad in the chair, according to an IF press release. The meeting announced that as the moon of Rabiul Awal of 1448 Hijri was not sighted in the sky of Bangladesh on Thursday, the holy month of Safar will end on Friday, completing 30 days.

The holy month of Rabiul Awal will begin on Saturday (15 August).

Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) was born in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, on 12 Rabiul Awal in 570 AD with divine blessings and messages of peace for mankind. He also passed away on the same date.

The day is a public holiday in Bangladesh.
