EU Election Observation Mission discusses country’s situation, polls with SAD

Bangla Press Desk: The EU Election Observation Mission sat in a meeting with the leaders of the Students Against Discrimination (SAD) and discussed the overall situation of the country and the upcoming national parliamentary polls.

The meeting was held at the EU Election Observation Mission office in the capital on Friday.

In the discussion, Chief of European Union Election Observation Mission Bangladesh 2026, Ivars Ijabs, said, “Young people played a decisive role in the mass uprising of 2024, and their participation in the electoral process is extremely important.”

The SAD, in a press statement, informed that the meeting held a detailed and productive discussion on the country’s overall and current situation. In particular, both sides exchanged views on the upcoming electoral process and the context of the July war and its impact.

Following the completion of the meeting, Senior Joint General Secretary Mashrafi Sarker said, “The Students Against Discrimination has acted as a pressure group in the past, continues to do so at present, and will remain so in the future. This great and sacred platform will never become a tool for implementing the agenda of any single political party.”

Apart from the chief of the mission, Political analyst Marcell Nagy and social media analyst Vionea Madalina represented the EU Election Observation Mission, while SAD President Rifat Rashid, Senior Joint General Secretary Mashrafi Sarker, Chief Coordinator Hasib Al Islam, and Women’s Affairs Cell Secretary Nova were present on behalf of their platform.
