Fishermen flock to Hormuz in hopes of getting iPhones

Bangla Press Desk: The cargo ship 'GFS Pride' has sunk off the coast of Iran. Hundreds of fishermen have taken to the sea in small fishing boats and rescue vessels, hoping to recover items such as iPhones, French perfumes, and other goods from the ship. This scene unfolded in the area near the Strait of Hormuz following the vessel's sinking last Wednesday (October 14).
In a video circulating on social media, a man is heard saying, "We are heading toward the Strait of Hormuz. I heard a container ship has sunk, so we are going to collect some iPhones and perfumes."
The viral footage shows fishermen navigating their boats among containers that are partially submerged in the water, attempting to pull boxes out from the depths. One video even captures a small boat trying to tow an entire shipping container.
How the ship sank
According to Singapore, the Singapore-flagged vessel 'GFS Pride' sank after catching fire. All 21 crew members on board were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported.
However, the navy of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claims that the ship was traveling along an "unauthorized and dangerous" route. At one point, it struck a naval mine, which triggered the fire.At the time it sank, the ship was carrying more than 2,500 containers.
This incident comes amid an increase in attacks on commercial vessels in and around the Strait of Hormuz. Since the conflict began, the intensity of attacks by the IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) has reached its peak; however, the number of ships that have actually sunk remains relatively low.
The *GFS Pride* is the second vessel to sink within a 24-hour period since the conflict began, and the third overall. Previously, on September 23, the Antigua and Barbuda-flagged vessel *Cape Dawn* sank following an attack.
The IRGC Navy has warned vessels to stay away from the area. Additionally, local fishermen have been advised to exercise caution when navigating near containers floating in the water. Source: NDTV
