Following Zia’s ideals can take the country forward: Fakhrul
Bangla Press Desk: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that if the ideals of martyred president Ziaur Rahman are properly followed, it will be possible to move the country forward again and govern it effectively.
He made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion session held at the auditorium of the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) on Monday morning, marking the re-publication of three books published by PIB on the thoughts and initiatives of martyred President Ziaur Rahman.
Addressing the event, Mirza Fakhrul said that Ziaur Rahman always practiced politics of compromise and mutual understanding. He respected diverse opinions and paths. When he assumed responsibility for the state, the country’s economy was in a severely poor condition. Through his leadership qualities, he lifted a failed state and put it back on track.
The BNP secretary general further said that the time has now come to present Shaheed Zia’s thoughts and works to the people, especially to the new generation. The more the new generation learns about him, the faster they will understand how challenges can be confronted and overcome.
