Bangla Press Desk:  The list of Bangladeshi-origin footballers making waves on the international stage continues to grow. Following the path paved by national team captain Jamal Bhuyan in 2013 and later joined by the likes of Tariq Kazi, the recent buzz around Leicester City’s Hamza Choudhury has ignited a surge of interest in diaspora talents. Now, a new name may be joining that exciting list — 18-year-old winger Farhaan Ali Wahid, who has just signed his first professional contract with English Premier League side Fulham. Born in England to Bangladeshi parents — both of whom were also born in the UK — Farhaan began his youth career at Chelsea before switching to Fulham’s Under-13 setup. Despite missing a major part of last season due to injury, the talented left winger returned strongly, scoring seven goals and providing four assists in 20 appearances for the Under-18s. Farhaan also made his debut for Fulham’s Under-21 side last season, marking the occasion with a goal in a thrilling 4-4 draw against PSV Eindhoven in the Premier League International Cup.
After inking his first professional deal, Farhaan shared his excitement: “I can’t really describe this feeling. It’s what I’ve been working for from the moment I started playing football. Now that I’m here, it feels amazing.” Reflecting on his journey through Fulham’s youth ranks, he added: “I joined Fulham at Under-13s, and it’s been like a rollercoaster. I’ve enjoyed every bit of my journey here. Coming through the age groups, I’ve always had a good set of boys around me who made me feel welcome straight away. My family have always been supportive of me achieving my dreams – and they’ve sacrificed a lot for me to do that. They’ve always given me advice and they’ve kept my feet on the ground too.”
With the Bangladesh Football Federation now more active in scouting dual-nationality players, all eyes will be on whether Farhaan Ali Wahid could be the next promising star to wear red and green.  This article was originally published on Daily Sun.
