Germany ready to extend full support for strengthening Bangladesh judiciary: Envoy
Bangla Press Desk: The German government is ready to provide all possible assistance for strengthening the judiciary and judicial independence in Bangladesh, Ambassador Dr Rüdiger Lotz said during a meeting with Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed on Wednesday.
Lotz met the chief justice at the latter’s office around 2pm, said a Supreme Court press release.
During the meeting, the German envoy categorically praised Syed Refaat Ahmed’s plans and implementations of the plans for ensuring institutional autonomy for Bangladesh judiciary. He particularly lauded the establishment of a dedicated Supreme Court Secretariat under the guidance of Syed Refaat Ahmed.
The German ambassador hoped Syed Refaat Ahmed’s contributions will show the way for establishing good governance and justice in future Bangladesh.
Syed Refaat Ahmed said he has tried his utmost for fulfilling his commitment on ensuring the rule of law in post-uprising Bangladesh. He urged for increased cooperation between the Bangladesh and German judiciaries.
