Golden double for Khoy Khoy, Hridoy triumphs in men’s singles
Bangla Press Desk: The 40th National Table Tennis Championship concluded on Friday at the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium in Paltan, showcasing the country’s finest talents. BKSP’s rising star Khoy Khoy Sai Marma dominated the spotlight with a rare junior–senior double, while Bangladesh Army’s Muhtasin Ahmed Hridoy impressed in men’s singles, securing his third national title.
After the women’s singles final, Khoy Khoy was surrounded by jubilant teammates—hugs, pats on the back, and cheers celebrating her victory. Legendary table tennis players Zobera Rahman Linu and her sister Munira Morshed Helen watched on, clearly impressed by the Rangamati-born paddler’s composure and skill. Khoy Khoy defeated defending champion Sadia Islam Mou 3–0 to claim her first senior singles gold.
“I was under pressure because I lost to her in 2023,” Khoy Khoy said. “But doing well in doubles gave me confidence. I stayed aggressive and kept her under pressure, and it worked.” Earlier in the tournament, she had also won the girls’ singles, completing a memorable double. Across eight events, Khoy Khoy earned six golds, one silver, and one bronze, establishing herself as a dominant force in domestic table tennis.
In men’s singles, Muhtasin Ahmed Hridoy defeated last year’s champion Ramhim Lian Bom 3–1, adding another national title to his career. “After years of effort, this victory feels amazing,” Hridoy said. “My next target is the Asian Games, and I hope to carry this momentum forward.”
Overall, BKSP dominated the championship, winning nine out of 14 events, while Ansar & VDP claimed three titles, and the Army two. Between Khoy Khoy’s golden streak and Hridoy’s consistent brilliance, the 40th edition highlighted the depth of Bangladesh’s table tennis talent.
The championship not only celebrated victories but also announced new icons—Khoy Khoy Sai Marma and Muhtasin Ahmed Hridoy—ready to shine on the international stage.
