Govt Focuses on Boosting Local Defence Manufacturing
Bangla Press Desk: Prime Minister Tareq Rahman stated that the current government, alongside modernizing the army, has prioritized the establishment of a domestic defense industry to produce essential arms, ammunition, and defense equipment within the country.
Noting that technology can never be a substitute for human personnel, the Prime Minister emphasized the need to develop an integrated defense capability—one where, in addition to enhancing technological prowess, the Army, Navy, and Air Force can operate in a coordinated manner whenever the need arises.
He made these remarks while serving as the chief guest at a ceremony for the presentation of the 'National Standard' at the Savar Cantonment today, Sunday. Prior to this, the Prime Minister handed over the National Standard to seven units of the Army’s 9th Infantry Division.
Pointing out that the global security landscape is evolving rapidly, the Prime Minister said, "The nature and tactics of warfare are changing. Beyond land, sea, and air, domains such as cyberspace, outer space, drones, artificial intelligence, electronic warfare, and information-based capabilities have become vital components of national security.
Given this reality, efforts are underway to ensure our defense preparedness keeps pace with the times."
The Prime Minister remarked, "This National Standard is more than just a flag; it embodies a unit’s history, traditions, discipline, sacrifices, professionalism, and commitment to the nation. The proud fluttering of the National Standard serves as a constant reminder of our independence, sovereignty, and the sacrifices made by countless individuals. This National Standard—a symbol of our independence and sovereignty—is now entrusted to your care.
Receiving this National Standard signifies a renewed pledge to carry out your assigned duties with even greater dedication. Upholding the honor of this flag is a sacred duty for every soldier." He further added, "The strength of a modern armed force is not limited merely to its weaponry, equipment, or manpower. Its true power lies in discipline, competence, leadership, ethics, training, and the trust of the people—and, above all, in its chain of command.
We remain committed to our ongoing efforts to transform the armed forces into a highly technological, efficient, disciplined, professional, and state-of-the-art force."
