Hadi Murder: Hearing on charge-sheet acceptance on 15 Jan
Bangla Press Desk: A Dhaka court on Monday set 15 January for hearing on cognizance of the charge-sheet in the case filed over the murder of Inqilab Moncho spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam passed the order as complainant Inqilab Moncho Member Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber pleaded for time to examine the charge-sheet.
Earlier on 6 January, Investigating Officer (IO) of the case Inspector Foysal Ahmed of the Detective Branch (DB) of Police submitted the charge-sheet against 17 accused with 77 witnesses.
The court received the charge-sheet on 7 January and also issued a notice on rhe following day, asking the complainant to appear and inform whether there is any objection to the charge-sheet submitted.
The charge-sheeted accused are-- Faisal Karim Masud, alias Rahul alias Daud (37); his father Md Humayun Kabir (70); mother Hashi Begum (60); wife Saheda Parvin Samia (24); brother-in-law Wahid Ahmed Shipu (27); friend Maria Akhter Lima (21); Md Kabir (33); Md Nuruzzaman Nomani alias Ujjal (34); Sibiun Dew (32) and Sanjay Chisim (23); Md Aminul Islam alias Raju (37); Md Faisal (25), Md Alamgir Hossain alias Alamgir Sheikh (26), Md Taizul Islam Chowdhury Bappi; Philip Snal (32), Mukti Mahmud (51), and Jesmin Akhter (42).
Among them 11 have been arrested so far and are now in jail while six of the accused, including alleged shooter Faisal, are at large.
On 12 December, Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Moncho and a prospective independent candidate from the Dhaka-8 constituency, was shot and critically injured on Box Culvert Road under Paltan Model Police Station.
Later, after reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area, it was found that while Sharif Osman Hadi and his associate were travelling in a battery-operated auto-rickshaw, two unidentified assailants arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire on Hadi with the intent to kill.
Hadi was seriously injured in the shooting and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment. After surgery there, he was transferred to Evercare Hospital. Subsequently, on 15 December, he was sent to Singapore for advanced treatment, where he later died.
On 14 December, Abdullah Al Javer, member secretary of Inqilab Moncho, filed an attempted murder case with Paltan Model Police Station over the incident which later turned into a murder case after the death of Hadi.
