BanglaPress Desk: Hasnat Abdullah, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Comilla-4 constituency and Chief Organizer (Southern Region) of the Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP), made a scathing remark stating that if the government were to introduce new 'widow cards' or 'unemployment cards,' the wives of MPs would be the first to claim them. He made this explosive comment while criticizing the nepotism and administrative irregularities currently prevailing in the country.
He made these remarks on Monday (October 12) afternoon while addressing a reception ceremony for students who achieved GPA-5, organized by the Metropolitan Chhatra Shakti at the Narayanganj District Shilpakala Academy.
In his speech, Hasnat Abdullah harshly criticized the country's recent process of appointing fertilizer dealers. He said, "It has recently been observed in the fertilizer dealer appointment process that the sons, daughters, and even sisters-in-law of MPs have secured dealerships. The current state of affairs in Bangladesh is such that if the government were to issue widow cards or unemployment cards now, the wives of MPs would be the first to take them."
Addressing the ongoing chaos in the academic sector, this top NCP leader cited the situation at the Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET). He stated that neither the teachers nor the students want the current Vice-Chancellor (VC) of CUET. He alleged that a specific group is attempting to drag the country backward.
