Hasnat Quaiyum regains candidacy
Bangla Press Desk: Hasnat Quaiyum, president of the Bangladesh Rashtro Songskar Andolon and an independent candidate for Kishoreganj-5 constituency, has regained his candidacy after appealing against the decision of the returning officer.
After having his candidacy, he alleged that planned work is being done at the field level to keep independent candidates out of the election race.
After participating at the appeal hearing at the Election Commission (EC), while talking to journalists, Hasnat Quaiyum said, "We did not want to make the Election Commission controversial. Despite the court order, our party was not registered. Still, we did not make any negative statements against the Election Commission until the schedule was announced. Because national interests are greater than party interests. It is important to make the election acceptable and credible."
He said that in the initial verification, six out of 10 voters were reported missing. During the field investigation with the administration and police, the voters said that they were afraid and did not recognize the candidate or did not sign. Later, when two voters were presented before the Election Commission today after appealing, the commission verified their statements and granted the appeal and allowed independent candidates to participate in the election.
