Bangla Press Desk: High Court justice Mamunur Rahman on Monday sent his official resignation letter to the government from his current residence in Canada, saying he cannot continue his duties due to “personal reasons.”
Mamunur stayed absent from work for more than a year without taking official leave in the wake of the July Uprising.
Recently, the Supreme Judicial Council sent a probe report into his conduct to the President, asking him to take “appropriate measures” in this regard.
Following the ouster of Awami League autocratic regime on 5 August 2024, the apex court has sent 13 justices on forced leave, nine of whom have permanently left their positions.
Two other justices remained absent from duties voluntarily, including Mamunur.
