Bangla Press Desk: The High Court (HC) on Monday issued a rule asking relevant authorities to explain why controversial Hindu leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari should not be granted bail in five cases.
The bench of Justice KM Jahid Sarwar and Justice Md Saiful Islam fixed October for hearing responses to the rule, confirmed Chinmoy's lawyer Apurba Kumar Bhattacharya.
Earlier, on 2 January, the Chattogram Metropolitan Session Judge's court denied him bail, prompting him to seek the HC's intervention. On 30 April, the HC granted him bail in a sedition case, but shortly afterwards, the chamber court stayed the bail order.
On 25 November last year, the Hindu leader was arrested from Dhaka on allegations of disrespecting the National Flag and symbolically threatening the country's sovereignty during a rally.
