Bangla Press Desk:  Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh has become an ineffective organization, said Maulana Abdur Rab Yusufi, senior vice president of Jamiat-e-Ulama-e-Islam Bangladesh.
He made this comment in a statement sent to the media on Thursday (May 21).
Commenting that Hefazat-e-Islam had almost become a failed organization during the Awami League government, he said that even during the interim government, satisfaction was seen in ‘photo session-centric’ activities instead of effective programs.
Maulana Abdur Rab Yusufi said that if there is a sincere thought to implement the goals and objectives of Hefazat, then it is necessary to systematically restructure the committee and bring qualified and suitable people in charge. At the same time, it is the need of the hour to determine a clear course of action to realize the demands of the organization.
Division within Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh is not desirable; rather, unity is the need of the hour, he said. According to him, division will not bring any benefit to the organization.
The veteran politician said, Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh is a religious organization founded by Shaykhul Islam Allama Shah Ahmad Shafir (RA). If there is a division within this organization, which was established for the noble purpose of religion, it will weaken the strength of the organization and create obstacles in achieving its goals.
Stating that it is natural to have differences of opinion in political and social activities, he said, if there is a division among those who agree with the goals and objectives of Hefazat, the organization will fail to play an effective role.
Abdur Rab Yusufi hopes that Hefazat-e-Islam will not become a tool for implementing the interests of any individual or group.
