Bangla Press Desk: Matt Henry delivered a brilliant final over to guide New Zealand to a thrilling three-run win over South Africa in the T20 Tri-Series final at Harare Sports Club on Saturday.
Defending 180, New Zealand restricted South Africa to 177 for six, with Henry conceding just three runs in the last over. South Africa needed seven off the final six balls with six wickets in hand, but two spectacular outfield catches from Michael Bracewell and Daryl Mitchell turned the game.
Dewald Brevis looked set to seal the win for South Africa with a blistering 31 off 16 balls, but his powerful shot toward square leg was brilliantly caught by Bracewell, who juggled the ball while stepping over the boundary before completing the dismissal in play.
Earlier, New Zealand posted 180 for five after being sent in to bat, with Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra scoring 47 each. In reply, South African teenager Lhuan-dre Pretorius struck 51 off 35 balls to keep his team on course before late drama derailed the chase.
