If administration favours BNP, election will be controversial: Jamaat
Bangla Press Desk: Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher has alleged that the country’s administration is gradually leaning toward a particular political party.
“If this trend continues, public confidence in a free and fair election will be undermined,” he warned.
The Jamaat leader also said that the Election Commission cannot escape responsibility if the principle of equality on the electoral field is violated.
Taher made the remarks on Sunday night while speaking to journalists after a Jamaat delegation, led by its Ameer Shafiqur Rahman, met Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus at the state guesthouse Jamuna in Dhaka.
Mentioning that the behaviour of administrative officials shows bias towards the BNP, he alleged that over the past two to three weeks, the provision of extra security and protocol for a top leader of a particular party has directly violated the principle of equality in the electoral field.
“We have no objection to anyone’s security or protocol. But, as a major political party, the same treatment must be ensured for the ameer of the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami. Otherwise, it will be considered biased behaviour,” Taher said.
