Sitakunda (Chittagong) Representative:  Police have recovered the hanging body of an imam named Mohammad Amir Hossain (40) from inside a mosque in Sitakunda, Chittagong. Before his death, he had written a note and also posted an emotional status on his Facebook ID.
The body was recovered from the second floor of the Raja Mia Sawdagar Jame Mosque in the Joramtal Banglabazar area of Sonaichhari Union of the upazila at around 10:30 pm on Tuesday (June 23).
Amir Hossain's village home is in Banshkhali Upazila of Chittagong. He had been serving as an imam at the Raja Mia Sawdagar Jame Mosque for 13 years.
Mohammad Iftekar Ahmed, general secretary and motawalli of the mosque management committee, said that he led the Asr prayers on Tuesday. However, he was not seen in the mosque during the Maghrib and Isha prayers. Initially, it was thought that he had gone out on some personal business. But when he did not return for a long time, local devotees started searching for him.
At one point, the door of the imam's room on the second floor of the mosque was closed and when he peeked through the window, he was seen hanging inside with a green cloth wrapped around the fan. A ladder was lying next to it.
When the news spread, locals gathered at the scene. Later, a handwritten note was found after searching the room. The mosque authorities said that it mentioned a family dispute.

According to local sources, before his death, he had written on his personal Facebook ID, 'He who has nothing but sorrow in his life shows fear of suffering.' There are also various discussions going on in the area around this status of his.
