Iran’s ‘Father of All Bombs’ in response to the US’s ‘Mother of All Bombs’

Bangla Press Desk: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has announced that it is preparing to unveil a new, powerful weapon. On Wednesday, IRGC spokesperson Hossein Mohebbi stated that the new weapon is being referred to as the "father of all bombs."
However, he did not provide any specific details regarding the nature or capabilities of the weapon.
In a statement released via Iran’s Young Journalists Club, Mohebbi remarked that this new weapon would pose fresh challenges for the country's adversaries. Previously, on Friday, U.S. President Donald Trump had hinted at the possibility of using the GBU-43/B—a powerful, non-nuclear American bomb—in the event of an attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities. The bomb is known as the "Mother of All Bombs."
It weighs approximately 9,800 kilograms.
It was first used in April 2017, during Trump’s first term, against a tunnel network belonging to the Islamic State (IS) in Afghanistan. Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the IRGC claimed that Iran’s missile stockpile has increased by 50 percent following a 12-day conflict between Iran and Israel in June 2025.
He further stated that the range, destructive power, and targeting precision of the missiles have also been improved.
However, he did not provide any specific figures. Mohebi added that Iran is working to strengthen its defense systems to develop the capability to permanently deter adversaries from launching attacks.
Hossein Mohebi, a spokesperson for Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), announced a shift in Iran’s defense policy. He explained that while Iran’s previous policy was to retaliate if attacked, the new approach dictates that any country attacking Iran will face not just a response, but a counter-offensive.
Mohebi further noted that Iran’s military strategy will emphasize asymmetric warfare, designed to ensure that adversaries fully grasp the intensity of Iran’s response. On February 28, Israel and the United States initiated a conflict against Iran; in retaliation, Iran launched attacks against Israel and U.S. military installations located in various Arab nations.
In June, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Washington and Tehran, leading to the commencement of bilateral talks. However, these discussions eventually collapsed due to disagreements regarding the freedom of navigation and security of vessels in the strategic Strait of Hormuz. The dispute over this vital waterway—crucial for the transport of fuel and goods—has further complicated the situation.
