‘Jailer 2’ takes the box office by storm—₹317 crore in three days!

Bangla Press Desk: Indian cinema superstar Rajinikanth, at the age of 75, has once again taken the silver screen by storm, defying audience expectations and shattering box office records. Since its release, his latest film, 'Jailer 2', has dominated theaters, raking in over ₹317 crore globally in just three days.
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the sequel has been performing exceptionally well. In the Indian market, the film has achieved a net collection of ₹144.60 crore and a gross collection of ₹169.65 crore.
Meanwhile, the film has also received an overwhelming response from international markets, grossing ₹147.50 crore abroad in just three days. Combined, the domestic and international earnings bring the film's total global gross collection to ₹317.15 crore.
After an opening-day collection of ₹59.70 crore in India, earnings dipped slightly to ₹37.10 crore on the second day. However, on Saturday (October 17)—a holiday—the number of viewers surged significantly; with a growth of approximately 28.8%, the film generated a net collection of ₹47.80 crore in a single day across 14,604 shows.
With this, 'Jailer 2' has surpassed the lifetime earnings of two of Rajinikanth’s previous blockbusters: 'Kabali' (approximately ₹295 crore) and 'Enthiran' (approximately ₹290 crore).
Consequently, just three days after its release, 'Jailer 2' has secured its place as the fourth highest-grossing film of Rajinikanth’s career. At the top of this list is '2.0' (approximately ₹668–675 crore), followed by the 2023 film 'Jailer' (approximately ₹605–630 crore) and the 2025 release 'Coolie' (approximately ₹516–548 crore). 'Thalaiva' Rajinikanth has made a comeback in the second installment, reprising his role as 'Tiger Muthuvel Pandian' from the 2023 blockbuster hit *Jailer*. The film also features an impressive star-studded cast; alongside Rajinikanth, this sequel—directed by Nelson Dilipkumar—stars actors such as Mohanlal, Shivarajkumar, Ramya Krishnan, Vijay Sethupathi, Vidya Balan, and Mithun Chakraborty. The film's music and score have been composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
Given the current upward trend in earnings, it seems only a matter of time before more box-office records are shattered for the fans of 'Thalaiva'.
