Jamaat Alliance Unveils Nationwide Long March Plan

Bangla Press Desk:   The 11-party alliance led by the Opposition Jamaat-e-Islami has announced a “long march” from Dhaka to four divisional cities from September to October to demand the implementation of the July National Charter referendum verdict and to protest the increase in oil, gas and electricity prices.

After the march, they will hold a grand rally in the capital in November.

Leader of the Opposition and alliance chief, Jamaat Ameer Shafiqur Rahman, announced the programme at the alliance's sit-in at Muktangan in Purana Paltan on Thursday.

Alliance leaders then attempted to march to the Secretariat to submit their 11-point charter of demands over public suffering, but were stopped at the gate.

Shafiqur addressed the crowd briefly there before declaring an end to the sit-in.
