Jamaat-e-Islami welcomes foreign investment
Bangla Press Desk: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqul Rahman has said that the party welcomes foreign investment.
He made this remark on Thursday during a courtesy meeting with a delegation from the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), the official Japanese government agency for investment and trade development.
He said that Japan is a trusted friend of Bangladesh and has played an important role as a development partner for the country.
The meeting was held at the Jamaat Ameer’s office in Bashundhara. Present at the meeting were Kazuiki Kataoka, a representative of the Japan External Trade Organization; Manabu Sugawara, Country General Manager of Sumitomo Corporation Asia & Oceania Private Limited and President of the Japanese Commerce and Industry Association in Dhaka, along with Vice President Hironori Yamanaka; and Manabu Sugawara, Country Head of Marubeni Corporation. Also present were Shariful Alam, Senior Director of JETRO-Dhaka office, and Ishrat Jahan, Assistant Manager.
The Japanese delegation informed the Jamaat Ameer that more than three dozen Japanese companies have been conducting their business operations in Bangladesh.
Shafiqul Rahman thanked the delegation and expressed hope that Japanese investment in Bangladesh will further increase in the future.
