Jamaat has never compromised with fascism: Ameer
Bangla Press Desk: Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman said that although many have compromised with fascism, Jamaat has not, and it will not compromise with any injustice in the future either.
He made these remarks on Monday at a discussion meeting organised by Jamaat’s Dhaka Metropolitan South unit at the National Press Club on the occasion of the Great Victory Day.
The discussion meeting was presided over by the Ameer of Dhaka Metropolitan South Md Nurul Islam Bulbul. Other speakers included Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General Rafiqul Islam Khan and Maulana A T M Masum.
Shafiqur Rahman said, “When people across the country are expressing solidarity over the attack on Osman Hadi, we are angered by the statement of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC). He must clarify his position and explain his remarks.”
He further said, “We do not want a government that does not take action even after a revolutionary is injured.” The government has still failed to arrest those responsible for the attack on Osman Hadi—so what exactly is the government doing? he questioned. He also stated that the Home Affairs Adviser should resign, taking responsibility for this failure.
He added that for 54 years the nation’s fate had been lost in quicksand. Now, by holding on to the unity of the uprising, an opportunity has emerged to move forward. If Jamaat comes to power, it will include all parties in the government and build the nation in unity.
The Jamaat Ameer also urged the media not to engage in propaganda against Jamaat by presenting news in a fragmented or distorted manner.
He said that Jamaat would accept fair and truthful criticism, but called on journalists to refrain from reporting that harms the country.
