Jamaat Mourns Opratim’s Death, Warns of Worsening Security
Bangla Press Desk: Jamaat-e-Islami has expressed deep sorrow over the murder of 13-year-old boy Opratim, the only child of a Cumilla University teacher, and demanded the government take urgent measures to improve the weak security situation.
Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General and former Member of Parliament Mia Golam Porwar issued a statement in this regard on behalf of the party.
Porwar expressed the party’s deepest condolences to the bereaved family, and prayed that the Almighty might grant the parents and relatives the strength to endure the unbearable grief.
On behalf of the party, he also prayed for the forgiveness of Opratim’s soul, and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
Mia Golam Porwar further said, “Opratim’s tragic fate is not merely the grief of one family; it is a profound warning to the entire society. If a child cannot leave home safely and return home safely, then where is the security of life and property for the people of the country? People are deeply concerned about such a deterioration in the law-and-order situation.”
Calling for the true cause of Opratim’s death to be uncovered quickly, he said, “it must be promptly determined through an impartial and professional investigation who was involved in the incident, why this brutal incident occurred, and whether any criminal group or other factor was behind it. No innocent person should be subjected to harassment, while the actual perpetrators must not be allowed to escape through loopholes in the law. The genuinely responsible individuals must be brought to justice swiftly, following due legal procedures regarding the suspects.”
He said, “I strongly demand that the government and law-enforcement agencies ensure that no other mother’s heart is left empty in this way because of the loss of a child like Opratim. The mystery surrounding Opratim’s death must be uncovered, the actual perpetrators must be arrested promptly, and exemplary punishment must be ensured under the existing law. At the same time, the safety of children, adolescents, and ordinary citizens across the country must be ensured.”
