Jamaat replaces Muslim candidate with Hindu man in Khulna-1
Bangla Press Desk: Krishna Nandi, Jamaat-e-Islami’s Sanatan (Hindu) wing president in Khulna’s Dumuria unit, will contest the election as the Islamic party’s candidate from the Dacope–Batiaghata constituency.
On 9 February, Jamaat announced its candidates for six constituencies in Khulna. Among them, candidates for five constituencies remained unchanged, but only in Khulna-1 the candidate (Abu Yusuf) has been replaced with a Hindu candidate.
Khulna district Jamaat Ameer Maulana Emran Hossain confirmed the information on Wednesday (3 December).
Krishna Nandi said, “There is no conflict between the previous candidate (Abu Yusuf) and me. We will work together.”
The previously announced Jamaat candidate, Maulana Abu Yusuf, said, “According to the decision, Krishna Nandi is the candidate for Khulna-1. We are prepared for anything good. I have already begun campaigning on his behalf.”
