Jamaat to announce final candidates soon: Shafiqur Rahman

Bangla Press Desk: Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has said that the party will reveal the final list of candidates for the upcoming 13th national parliamentary elections in the coming days.

He said the party had already shared the list regionally in various ways almost a year ago and that the central committee will announce the final list in due time, Insha-Allah.

“Since we will not be contesting the election alone, and will be including many others, we will announce the final list in a timely manner, considering all aspects in the interest of the country and the nation,” Dr. Shafiqur Rahman told journalists after returning from a foreign trip on Tuesday (November 4) at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

He added that he was not elected as Amir but entrusted with the responsibility by his colleagues.

“This responsibility is a heavy one. I request your prayers that Allah helps me fulfill it for the sake of the country and the faith. I also seek your cooperation,” he said.

Dr. Shafiqur also urged the Election Commission to extend the voter registration deadline by 15 days to ensure the voting rights of expatriates.

Addressing political differences, he emphasized that disagreements among parties are part of democracy, but they should not turn into conflict.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman traveled abroad for Umrah on October 19, then visited the United States on October 22, participating in a press conference in New York, before traveling to the United Kingdom. He returned to Bangladesh early on Tuesday morning.
