Bangla Press Desk: A group of journalists on Thursday morning accused NCP activists of harassing them, and boycotted the party’s press briefing on its New York tour. The tour was held on the sidelines of the UNGA summit.
The alleged harassment took place at 09:45am at the VIP entrance of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital.
NCP leaders, and other members of a Bangladeshi political delegation, which joined Chief Adviser Prof Yunus during his UN headquarters visit, were holding a briefing on the New York tour at the VIP gate.
At the time, BNP leader Humayun Kabir was addressing reporters, but NCP activists were chanting slogans loudly.
At one point, a journalist requested the NCP activists to pause their slogans and allow the media to work without facing interruptions.
The request infuriated the NCP members, and they harassed a number of journalists. In protest, the journalists left the spot without waiting to hear from NCP leaders about their US visit.
National Citizen Party Member Secretary Akhter Hossen, and First Senior Joint Member Secretary Dr Tasnim Jara joined Prof Yunus in the 22 September-2 October US tour alongside leaders from other political parties. This article was originnaly published on Daily Sun.
