JU Chhatra Shibir gets new leaders; president no longer student

Bangla Press Desk:   The Bangladesh Islami Chhatra has elected new president, and nominated new general secretary for its Jahangirnagar University (JU) unit for 2026. Mostafizur Rahman is the new president, while Mazharul Islam is the general secretary, the group announced Monday in a facebook post.

The full committee has yet to be formed.

Mostafizur, the elected president, however, is no longer a student, according to investigations. According to reports, he finished his academic studies at the beginning of last year.

He is from the 47th batch of the Department of Philosophy. General Secretary Mazharul is a student of the 48th batch of the Department of English and the elected General Secretary of the Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (JUCSU).

A members’ assembly was held on the occasion of the election. Nurul Islam Saddam, central president of Chhatra Shibir, was present as the chief guest in the assembly conducted by Hafiz Abu Musa, central arts and cultural secretary, the notice added.
