Kolkata Hotel Fire Victims’ Bodies Repatriated to Bangladesh
Bangla Press Desk: Bodies of six Bangladeshi nationals among the seven killed in a fire accident at a hotel in India’s Kolkata on 19 August returned on Saturday.
Since the accident, the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata provided all-out help to the local authorities and the families of the deceased to complete necessary formalities to ensure the return of the bodies, the foreign ministry said in a press release.Among the six bodies, one was returned through the Bhomra border, while five others were returned through the Benapole border.
The body of Reboti Sarkar received final rites in Kolkata following her family’s wish. The Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata provided financial and other types of assistance in this regard.
The foreign ministry also expressed sympathy to the grieving families of the deceased. Among the six bodies, one was returned through the Bhomra border, while five others were returned through the Benapole border.
