Meghna Alam posts a photo of Sarjis—what is the motive?
Bangla Press Desk: Meghna Alam—a model, actress, and leader of the Matsyajibi Dal—has raised questions after posting a photo of Sarjis Alam, a leader of the Jatiya Nagarik Party (NCP), on social media. Alongside asking whether the image is authentic or generated by artificial intelligence (AI), she wrote, "What is the motive?" Her post has sparked a discussion on social media.
The photo, posted by Meghna Alam on Saturday (October 10), shows Sarjis Alam standing in front of the nameplate of Dhaka University’s Amar Ekushey Hall, holding a 'Provost Award' crest. The name of Sheikh Hasina—the Prime Minister ousted in July 2024—is also visible on the nameplate in the background.
In the caption accompanying the post, Meghna Alam wrote, "Who is this? What is the motive? Real or AI??"
However, Meghna did not provide a clear explanation as to why she raised these questions regarding the photo of Sarjis Alam. In the comments section of her post, many made pointed remarks about Sarjis's past involvement in student politics and his former stance regarding Sheikh Hasina's politics. Yet, the post offered no confirmation regarding the veracity of these comments or the context of the photograph.
Meghna Alam is a well-known model and actress in Bangladesh who has recently become active in politics. In addition to participating in television talk shows and political discussions, she is striving to establish her own position in the political arena as a woman.
Meanwhile, Sarjis Alam played a pivotal role in the mass uprising of July 2024. He was one of the key coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. Furthermore, he serves as the former General Secretary of the July Shaheed Smriti Foundation and as the Chief Organizer (Northern Region) of the Jatiya Nagarik Party's central convening committee.
