Milestone aircraft crash victim Navid returns home after 36 surgeries
Bangla Press Desk: After 97 days of intensive treatment, 12-year-old Milestone School and College aircraft clash victim Navid Nowaz has finally returned to his Uttara residence in Dhaka.
Navid, a seventh-grade student of the English version at Milestone School and College in Uttara, underwent 36 surgeries during the treatment period.
Professor Dr Nasir Uddin, acting director of National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute, shared the information at a press conference at the institute on Monday.
He said that Navid was severely burned during the plane crash on 21 July and was first taken to Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka before being admitted to the Burn Institute the next day with burns covering 45% of his body.
“Navid’s treatment was challenging. He spent 22 days in ICU, 35 days in HDU, and 40 days in an isolated cabin. His lungs were affected and filled with fluid at times. We had to provide specialised care.” he said.
He added that despite challenges, the team managed to save Navid while five other patients remain under treatment and may be discharged in the coming week.
