Ministry of Finance issues new notification regarding pay scale
Bangla Press Desk: The Finance Division of the Ministry of Finance has issued a new notification regarding the 9th National Pay Scale, specifically concerning the determination of allowances for government employees. The notification was issued on October 19, signed by Dr. Md. Ferdous Alam, Joint Secretary of the Finance Division, under the authority of the President.
The notification was issued on Sunday (October 18) by the 'Regulations-3' branch of the Finance Division and was subsequently published as an extra issue of the Bangladesh Gazette on Monday (October 19).
The notification states that certain allowances fall outside the scope of the 'Service (Pay and Allowances) Order, 2026'. These allowances are calculated as a percentage of the basic salary. Until further notice, these allowances will be calculated based on the basic salary as it stood on June 30, 2026.
According to the notification, employees across government ministries, divisions, departments, agencies, state-owned enterprises, and autonomous bodies—who receive allowances calculated as a percentage of their basic salary that are not covered by the 2026 Pay and Allowances Order—will continue to receive these allowances based on the basic salary they were earning as of June 30, 2026, until further instructions are issued.
On September 19, following an 11-year interval, the government issued a notification for a new national pay structure. This structure sets the minimum basic salary at 20,000 BDT and the maximum at 156,000 BDT. The new basic salary will be implemented in three phases between the 2026-27 and 2027-28 fiscal years. Salary adjustments will be based on the basic salary in effect as of June 30, 2026.
However, allowances that fall outside the scope of this pay scale order are excluded from these adjustments; consequently, such allowances will continue to be paid based on the previous salary structure.
