Musk Says It’s Time for Zelensky to Step Down

Bangla Press Desk:  US billionaire and SpaceX founder Elon Musk has called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to step down. In a post on social media on Wednesday (October 14), Musk wrote, “The slaughter continues. It is time for Zelensky to leave.”

Musk made the remarks as fresh doubts emerged in Kyiv over continued US support for Ukraine amid the ongoing war.

Ukraine has accused the United States of indirectly helping Moscow by failing to provide advance warnings about Russian missile attacks. Kyiv has also claimed that changes to Musk’s satellite communications system are weakening Ukraine’s military defence capabilities.

SpaceX’s satellite-based internet service, Starlink, has played a crucial role in Ukraine’s military communications. However, Ukraine says recent restrictions on the service’s speed have disrupted its military operations. Against this backdrop, Zelensky urged Musk to restore Starlink services to normal.

In response, Musk blamed the US government for the restrictions.

He also highlighted the distinction between Starlink and Starshield. According to Musk, Starshield, which is used for battlefield communications in Ukraine, is controlled by the US government. Starlink, on the other hand, is a civilian satellite service that Ukraine uses but is not authorised for offensive military operations.

Recently, US President Donald Trump announced a deal involving diesel supplies from Russia. Despite the strict sanctions imposed on Moscow, the announcement prompted questions about whether Zelensky felt betrayed by Washington’s actions.

Zelensky answered in the affirmative.

Meanwhile, a senior Kyiv official said the United States had recently threatened to stop sharing information about Russian missile launches with Ukraine. Kyiv uses such intelligence to try to intercept Russian attacks.

Trump, however, has denied making any such threat.
