Narayanganj UP member beaten to death over alleged extortion

Bangla Press Desk:A mob beat to death a union parishad (UP) member linked to Awami League on allegations of collecting extortion in Narayanganj on Monday morning.

Sohel Ahmed, 32, was beaten to death by angry villagers when collecting extortion from a house in his administrative area in Baliapara village of Araihazar upazila. Later, police reached the spot and tamed the mob

Sohel’s body has been sent to a government hospital for autopsy, Araihazar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Nasiruddion told reporters.

Sohel was accused in 12-13 cases on charges including murder and robbery, the police officer claimed, adding he collected extortion from villagers with Awami League’s backing.
