'Nari Shakti' committee dissolved; new 3-member committee announced

Bangla Press Desk: Seven and a half months after its inception, the committee of 'Jatiya Nari Shakti'—an affiliate organization of the Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP)—has been dissolved, and a new three-member committee has been announced. Dr. Mahmuda Mitu has been appointed as the convener of this committee.

On Sunday, shortly after 12:15 PM, the new, partial three-member committee for 'Jatiya Nari Shakti' was unveiled on the NCP’s verified Facebook page.

This was later confirmed in a press release issued by Sadia Farzana Dinar, the office secretary of the NCP.

The release stated that, under the directives of NCP Convener Nahid Islam and Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain, the existing committee of 'Jatiya Nari Shakti' has been dissolved, and a new (partial) convener committee has been approved. This committee has been instructed to announce a full-fledged committee within the next 15 days.

Dr. Mahmuda Alam Mitu, a Member of Parliament (MP) from the reserved seats for women, has been appointed as the convener, while Nusrat Tabassum—also an MP from the reserved seats for women—has been named the member secretary. Additionally, Manjila Jhuma has been appointed as the chief organizer of the organization.

'Jatiya Nari Shakti' was launched on March 8, International Women’s Day. Subsequently, on April 18, a 53-member full committee was announced for the organization; that committee has now been dissolved.

Monira Sharmin served as the convener of the previous committee, while Dr. Mahmuda Mitu served as its member secretary. Other key positions in that 53-member committee included Sanjida Bushra Mishma as senior joint convener and Nusrat Tabassum as chief organizer.
