Nation freed from disgrace with caretaker government system restored: NCP
Bangla Press Desk: Welcoming the court’s verdict restoring the election-time caretaker government system, Member Secretary of the National Citizen Party (NCP) Akhtar Hossain said the nation has been freed from disgrace.
The caretaker system remains the most acceptable form of election-time administration, he said while speaking to reporters at the NCP office in Banglamotor, Dhaka, on Thursday evening (20 November) during a briefing.
He noted that during the previous Awami League government, the 13th Amendment to the Constitution had been annulled and a completely one-sided verdict delivered.
Welcoming the recent verdict that declared the ruling illegal and restored the nonpartisan caretaker government system for election periods, Akhtar said, “Through this, the nation has been freed from a long-standing disgrace.”
Akhtar further emphasised that elections must be participatory and that ambiguities in the July Charter need to be clarified. Only then the NCP will sign the July Charter.
