National election crucial for democratic transition: Kabir Bhuiyan
Bangla Press Desk: BNP-nominated candidate Kabir Ahmed Bhuiyan’s nomination paper for the Brahmanbaria-4 (Kasba–Akhaura) constituency has been declared valid by the district returning officer.
Following the scrutiny process on Saturday, Kabir Ahmed spoke to journalists after the confirmation of his candidature.
He said the upcoming national parliamentary election scheduled for 12 February is extremely important for the democratic transition of the country.
Expressing grief, he said he was deeply saddened by the demise of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
“We must turn this grief into strength. Her patriotism, commitment to democratic politics and nationalist ideology will continue to inspire our journey,” he added.
Kabir Ahmed Bhuiyan further said his main objectives are ensuring overall development of Kasba–Akhaura, establishing a healthy and tolerant political environment, and addressing unemployment in the area. “The trust and love of the people are my greatest strength,” he said.
After the news of the nomination’s validation spread, leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated organisations expressed joy at the District Returning Officer’s office premises.
Among others, District BNP Joint General Secretary Belal Uddin, Kasba Upazila BNP President Advocate Fakhr Uddin Ahmed Khan, Akhaura Upazila BNP President Zainal Abedin Abdu, Kasba Upazila BNP General Secretary Shariful Haque Swapan, and Akhaura Upazila BNP General Secretary Dr Khorshed Alam, were also present.
