NCP alleges attacks by BNP, AL on 11-party candidates
Bangla Press Desk: Election candidates of the 11-party alliance are coming under attack from BNP and the banned political party, Awami League, alleged NCP, a member of the alliance, during a meeting with the Chief Election Commissioner on Monday.
Aiman Rahat, a member of NCP’s election management committee, revealed the outcome of the meeting at a press conference held at the Election Commission head office.
The Election Commission had assured of taking measures against the attacks, but so far has failed to adopt any measure, Aiman Rahat alleged.
In multiple cases the local administration was working in favour of a “particular political group,” he further alleged.
He particularly highlighted the BNP-NCP clash at Hatiya upazila of Noakhali on 30 January that left multiple NCP activists injured.
The attack took place during the inauguration of a ferry service.
NCP had already submitted a list of “local terrorists” suspecting they would disrupt the election environment in support of a “particular political party,” but none was detained in the run up to the attack.
Even after the attack, the local administration is not cooperating with NCP, he alleged.
