New Relief for Government Employees After Pay Fixation

Bangla Press Desk:  The deadline for determining the new basic salaries of government officers and employees under the Ninth National Pay Scale, a process known as “pay fixation,” ended on Tuesday. The process, which began on October 5, involves calculating new salaries, the difference from previous pay and outstanding arrears.

Once pay fixation is completed, government employees are expected to receive three months of salary and allowances in arrears, covering July to September, along with their October salaries.

According to information from the iBAS++ pilot programme, salaries under the National Pay Scale 2026 cannot be determined until salaries and allowances for June 2026 have been drawn under the National Pay Scale 2015 and the bills for July to September have been submitted.

According to the Finance Division, employees are expected to receive the arrears for the previous three months along with their October salaries under the new pay structure. The implementation of allowances under the revised structure will take place at a later stage, according to the order.

Under the new pay structure, the minimum basic salary for government employees has been set at Tk 20,000, while the maximum has been fixed at Tk 156,000. Although the structure was declared effective from July 1, all salary and allowance benefits will not be introduced simultaneously. The new structure is planned to be implemented in several phases.

According to the plan, the new basic pay structure will be implemented in three phases: the first from July 1 to December 31, 2026; the second from January 1 to June 30, 2027; and the third from July 1 to December 31, 2027. Meanwhile, allowances under the revised structure are scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2028.

Meanwhile, a notification issued by the Finance Division on Tuesday stated that, until further instructions, existing allowances calculated as a specified percentage of basic salary will be governed by the applicable provisions up to the 30...
