News of 5 NCP leaders’ meeting with ex-US ambassador Peter Haas a rumour: Nasir Uddin
Bangla Press Desk:   Nasir Uddin Patwary, chief coordinator of the National Citizen Party (NCP), dismissed the news of a meeting of the party’s five senior leaders with former US Ambassador to Bangladesh Peter Haas at a hotel in Cox’s Bazar, saying it is nothing but a rumour. “Our five leaders visited a hotel in Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday, where the former US Ambassador was already staying at the time. But the news of a meeting among them is blatant rumour,” Patwary said on Tuesday. The NCP leaders visited the area without a prior schedule, according to the NCP leader. The rumour surfaced while the entire nation was celebrating July Uprising Day, also known as the Student-People’s Uprising Day, that began as a quota reform movement in early June 2024.
NCP Chief Coordinator Nasir Uddin Patwary, Chief Organiser for the northern region Sarjis Alam, Chief Organiser for the Southern region Hasnat Abdullah, Senior Joint Member Secretary Tasnim Zara and her husband Khaled Saifullah reached Cox’s Bazar by a flight around 11 am on Tuesday. The sudden arrival of NCP leaders in Cox’s Bazar has sparked widespread buzz and discussion in the country’s political arena. This article was originally published on Daily Sun.
