No dialogue over demand of fresh polls: Quader
Banglapress Desk: Road Transport and Bridges minister Obaidul Quader has stated that the government has no plans to hold any dialogue with the opposition parties over their demand of fresh polls under nonpartisan caretaker government. Quader, also general secretary of the ruling Awami League, made the statement while talking to reporters after inspecting the activities of two mobile courts on Manik Mia Avenue in Dhaka Saturday morning. Stating that the democratic countries have extended their support to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina before the formation of the new government, the Minister said that there is no need for holding any such dialogue. “It is nothing but an undesirable demand,” said Quader. Earlier, on January 10, Dr. Kamal Hossain, chief of the newly formed political alliance Jatiya Oikyafront, called for a national dialogue to find a way for holding a fresh election as per the constitution terming the December 30 national election as ‘farcical’. Moreover, the Left Democratic Alliance (LDA), a coalition of eight left-leaning political parties also recently demanded the same bringing widespread allegations of vote rigging and ballot stuffing in the recently concluded polls.
