No election without legal basis of July Charter: Jamaat Ameer
Bangla Press Desk: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman has warned that no national election will be held without establishing a legal basis for the July Charter.
Speaking at a rally of eight political parties in the capital’s Paltan area on Tuesday, he said, “Those who refuse to recognise the July Revolution will not see any election in 2026. The legal foundation of the July Charter must be built through a national referendum before the next election.”
The Jamaat chief said the charter embodies the demands of the people, and any delay in implementing it could lead to a grave situation.
“The July Charter reflects the aspirations of the masses. If we fail to meet those demands, our movement will continue,” he declared.
Urging political parties to understand the people’s sentiment, Shafiqur Rahman said, “It is because of the July uprising that we are able to speak here in Paltan today. Understand the language of the people — or be prepared to face the consequences.”
