No one should be allowed to create confusion in the name of religion: President

Bangla Press Desk: President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir stated that, following the fall of the autocracy, Almighty Allah has granted us an opportunity to rebuild our nation—an opportunity we must utilize through collective unity. He emphasized that everyone must remain vigilant and alert to ensure that a fascist, oppressive regime never returns to the country and that no one is permitted to sow confusion in the name of religion.
On Monday afternoon (October 19), a delegation of prominent Islamic scholars and figures visited the President at Bangabhaban. The President addressed them during this meeting.
The delegation was led by Maulana Mufti Bashirullah, Central Organizing Secretary of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh. Other notable members present included Hefazat-e-Islam Joint Secretaries General Mufti Harun Izhar and Maulana Mir Idris Nadvi; Maulana Rafiqul Islam, Imam and Khatib of the Prime Minister’s Office Mosque; Maulana Faisal, Coordinator of the National Imam-Khatib Council; and Maulana Afsar Mahmud, Publicity Secretary of Khatme Nabuwwat Bangladesh.
The President noted that the late President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister the late Begum Khaleda Zia held Islamic scholars and the *Ulama* in high regard. Driven by his devotion to Islam, President Ziaur Rahman incorporated the phrase "Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim" into the Constitution and established "absolute trust and faith in Allah" as one of the fundamental principles of state governance.
The President stated that he is now entirely apolitical. However, he affirmed that he would remain watchful to ensure that no actions are taken that might undermine Islamic values or the *Sharia*.
The delegation requested that the President leverage his personal connections and the Arabic language proficiency of his associates to help increase trade, investment, and grant assistance from affluent and developed nations in the Middle East. The President advised them to maintain ongoing communication with the relevant authorities—including the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs—and assured them of his support in this endeavor. The delegation invited the President to visit the Darul Uloom Madrasa in Hathazari, Chittagong, and the Al-Jamiatul Islamia Azizul Uloom Babunagar Madrasa in Fatikchhari.
The President expressed his interest in visiting these madrasas and meeting with the Amir of Hefazat at a convenient time.
