Bangla Press Desk: Major General Abdul Motalab Sajjad Mahmud, Director General of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP), has stated that no opportunity will be given to disrupt communal harmony or incite chaos through provocations, rumors, or malicious propaganda.
He made these remarks on Monday afternoon while visiting a Puja mandap (worship venue) at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) in Farmgate, Dhaka. The visit was part of his on-site inspection of the security arrangements for the Sharadiya Durga Puja.
The Director General noted that Ansar-VDP personnel are playing a responsible role in ensuring security during Durga Puja. In coordination with the Puja Celebration Committee and other law enforcement agencies, any disturbances or issues arising at the mandaps are being addressed immediately. He also issued directives to take swift and appropriate action, in accordance with regulations, should any untoward incidents occur.
He further mentioned that security measures have been significantly strengthened this year through the increased use of CCTV cameras at the mandaps and the implementation of an integrated, rapid-response system via the ‘Sharadiya Suraksha’ (Sharadiya Protection) app. Even Puja venues organized privately on individual premises remain under the surveillance of the force’s dedicated monitoring teams.
The Director General instructed the personnel on duty to maintain professionalism, discipline, and a cordial demeanor. He highlighted that, beyond security, Ansar-VDP members are also engaged in humanitarian service—assisting in the recovery and reunification of lost children with their families, providing support to elderly visitors, maintaining order, and taking action against the activities of juvenile gangs and those who harass women.
