Nusrat Murder: Two Death Sentences Upheld, Four Get Life
Bangla Press Desk: The High Court has upheld the death sentences of two of the 16 convicts sentenced to death in the murder case of madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi, who was burnt to death in Sonagazi, Feni.
Four others have been sentenced to life imprisonment, while the remaining 10 have been acquitted.
The High Court bench of Justice Bhishmadev Chakrabortty and Justice KM Rasheduzzaman Raja delivered the verdict on Monday after hearing the death references, appeals and jail appeals.
The death sentences of Nusrat’s madrasa principal at the time, SM Siraj-ud-Daula, and his associate Shahadat Hossain Shamim have been upheld.
Those sentenced to life imprisonment are Nur Uddin, Saifur Rahman Mohammad Zubayer, Umme Sultana alias Popy and Javed Hossain alias Sakhawat Hossain.
